Strategy plan for the expansion of Frankfurt Airport

Frankfurt Airport is one of the ten largest air transport hubs worldwide and in continental Europe. Currently, approximately 420,000 flights are handled each year.

Forecast traffic growth, with passenger numbers expected to reach up to 80 million passengers per year, necessitates a significant expansion of the airport’s infrastructure. The planned expansion program includes the construction of a new runway and a new terminal. The additional runway will increase flight capacity to up to 660,000 flights per year. The new terminal complex will be connected to the existing terminals via an integrated, fully automated people mover system.
