Ukraine is one of the most energy-intensive countries in the world. As part of the decentralisation efforts since 2014, local authorities have experienced a significant strengthening of their financial accountability and, against this background, have been keen to achieve the greatest possible savings in energy consumption. With the aim of improving energy efficiency in public transport in selected municipalities of Ukraine, German Financial Co-operation with Ukraine, represented by KfW Development Bank, selected Dornier to elaborate the feasibility studies for proposed investment projects to improve the energy efficiency of the public transport systems in the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Zhytomyr.
