The Moabit power station went into operation in 1900. Between 1987 and 1989, significant parts of the old combined heat and power plant were replaced by a new heating block with modern atmospheric circulating fluidised bed combustion. Since the end of 2013, the site has been setting new standards through the use of biomass. The plant was converted for the co-combustion of biomass.
Due to the fact that much of the documentation was only available in paper form, a digitisation project was launched in 2015, which Dornier Power and Heat is significantly managing and supporting.
