The Vogtland District lacks high-quality rail connections to national and international hubs, resulting in inefficient rail transport for business and industry. For a significant portion of the population, there are currently no attractive and fast transport options outside the main lines. Both the quality of life for residents and the competitiveness of the local economy are negatively affected by the inadequate rail connections in the Vogtland District. To counter this trend, Dornier is conducting an economic feasibility study for the double-track expansion and electrification of the Plauen – Bad Brambach/Czech border line, with connections to the Czech Spa Triangle.

Our services at a glance:

  • Development and documentation of the future operational program for regional and long-distance transport (passenger and freight), taking into account the specific needs of the Vogtland automotive suppliers
  • Identification of cross-sector growth potential for regional and long-distance transport through the expansion and electrification of the Plauen – Bad Brambach – Cheb rail line
  • Development of an operational and technical target concept for the continuous restoration of double-track operation and electrification of the Plauen – Bad Brambach – Cheb line, based on regional requirements, as a basis for the operational planning of Deutsche Bahn AG
  • Analysis of positive environmental and climate protection impacts resulting from the electrification of the line
  • Assessment of the transport and economic effects for the region as a basis for a cost-benefit analysis
  • Development of an implementation concept
