The Interest Group of Regional Airports (IDRF) and the German Business Aviation Association (GBAA) have joined forces to tackle the challenges posed by climate change. The aim is to work together to develop solutions to reduce emissions caused by the operation of regional airports and the associated air traffic.
The programme designed to achieve this goal is called ‘Innovate2Fly’. It will consist of a combination of two elements. On the one hand, emissions will be offset through emission reduction credits. Secondly, technical solutions for reducing emissions in air traffic will be implemented through the support of regional innovation projects. These innovation projects could be carried out, for example, in the field of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and electric flying, including the necessary charging infrastructure.
