Adolf Würth Airport in Schwäbisch Hall developed a concept to achieve climate-neutral airport operations. The objective of the project was to establish a step-by-step roadmap for decarbonization and to define concrete measures for a sustainable energy supply. A key component of the project was the analysis of the airport’s solar energy potential to enable on-site power generation for self-consumption.

Based on these findings, additional fields of action were examined, including the expansion of charging infrastructure for electric mobility and measures to reduce energy consumption, for example in building heating and cooling systems.

Our services at a glance:

  • Assessment of current energy consumption and analysis of existing CO₂ emissions
  • Initial evaluation of solar energy potential and expected energy yields, leading to the development of an energy concept
  • Conducting safety analyses
  • Estimation of CapEx and OpEx
  • Development of business cases and evaluation of financing options
  • Design and permitting planning for an open-space photovoltaic system, including implementation support
